The activity program developed continues in a friendly atmosphere with all the players in the various projects that ICA Côte d'Ivoire is currently carrying out in the Agneby-Tiassa and Gbêkê regions.

For the Agneby-Tiassa region, our activities revolve mainly around raising awareness on the continuity of agricultural activities set up by the reintegration project carried out with the financial and technical support of MOFA and ICA Japan in the 11 villages in the Region.
The breeding of chickens continues in some villages with very good success which allows us to know that all the trainings given in this project are beneficial today to the youth of the Region of Agneby-Tissa in particular and to all the general population.

Thus, despite the pandemic which continues to undermine all development actions at the global level, the beneficiaries certainly have daily difficulties in everyday life, but thanks to the reintegration project, they are starting to have another source of income more permanent, in this case the oil palms planted 5 years ago.
We can say that our goal of creating a regular income-generating activity through agroforestry for the beneficiaries of the said project has been achieved in 9 out of 11 villages that have established oil palm and citrus plantations.

ICA Côte d'Ivoire, which has set itself a main empowerment mission for the years 2020-2023, continues to work in this direction to be able to ensure these operating costs and a time either to provide support to the vulnerable populations of our country.
This is why, in a grand vision, we installed a mushroom farm and moved the breeding chicken farm to the courtyard of the ICA Côte d'Ivoire office in Agboville.

A cassava plantation and a small palm grove have also been created on part of the space of the plot where the office is built. This also allows us to apply the use of compost in our agricultural practices since we teach it to our village beneficiaries.

The “Sainte Sato Preschool Education Center” school project which opened in October 2020 is very well known today by the population of Brobo for the quality of the teaching and also the professionalism of the preschool educators. We have.

The organization for the benefit of the children of the various festivals which mark the school life of a preschool are opportunities to cheer up the children and give parents even more confidence that this school contributes greatly to education in this district. of their children.

This is why on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, the CEP Sainte Sato de Brobo management organized the Shrove Tuesday party in collaboration with the management of the family of women and children to once again allow children to demonstrate this that they learned in such a short time in this school.

The opportunity given made it possible to bring the children out with their parents and educators for a parade in the streets of Brobo to advertise their school which is only 5 months old on the Brobo plateau.

In the vision, we plan to open a primary school by 2023, in order to have a heritage capable of being a plus for a local contribution in the solicitation of funding for projects in favor of rural populations and urban.

OF INTEREST:

Emerging Ecology has begun working with the Sunset Hills neighborhood to launch a Neighborhood Enlivenment Project. This project begins with five 2-hour facilitated sessions using TOP methods via Zoom and Mural software.  The group began with a walk through their neighborhood (masked and socially distanced) on February 20 -- group photo below. After the initial workshop, the leadership team crafted the following focus question for the vision workshop which will be held this month: “What do the residents of Sunset Hills want to see in place in the next five years that will make our neighborhood a model of environmental sustainability and ecological health.”
Further information about this project is available on the Emerging Ecology website at www.EmergingEcology.org/neighborhoods

ICA USA – March 2021

Lesley Showers, ICA COO, gives two thumbs up for the successful sale of the parking lot.

On February 18th ICA USA celebrated the sale of a portion of the ICA parking lot across the street from ICA GreenRise.  The following Tuesday ICA staff celebrated the event with pizza and reflections on how each person had participated in making that happen, giving special thanks to Lesley Showers, who implemented all the legal papers required from beginning to end. The purchaser, Sarah’s Circle, is a tenant of the ICA, serving homeless women. This year the parking lot will see a six-story structure rise up to serve as housing for homeless women.  This is a win-win for ICA, Sarah’s Circle and the people the two organizations are serving.
