AUSTRALIA:

Report: Colleagues encouraged by new debate on religious gifts of global responsibility referenced through Bonhoeffer ethics, correcting the narrow casting of conservative politics.

Team of 5 selected from a large field of willing facilitators, to facilitiate several programs in Timor Leste next week.

The single plane air service to Nauru in the Pacific, was reposessed by bankers last week.  Kevin Balm's flight was cancelled until new finance was arranged.

BANGLADESH:

Great news: Dr. Yunus and Grameen Bank from Bangladesh won the Nobel Peace prize 2006!!! We are celebrating his winning and we Bangladeshi are really proud of him.

PERU:

100 Valleys

Report: Recruiting moved ahead for the first 6 week AVANZA PERU program for community leaders of mining communities, with lots of interest expressed by the mining companies. 

Repairs are happening at the Azpitia Training Center, and the 37 professionals who will be doing the technical training have been contacted. 

Donations started to come in from our colleague mailing, including our old friends Judith Hamje and Ruth Marshall Merrifield.

ITERLENG ICA South Africa:

Report: Itereleng has written two proposals, for the Youth development programme YFL namely Firelight and National Development agency.

Muzi our YFL coordinator has been conducting school visits.

A quarterly review was conducted. We had two networking meetings with two different organisations, KAIROS, and Great, looking at possible colloborations and skills exchanged. Good South Africa. Recruitmnet of volunteers. Thank you

TANZANIA:

Report: Training of ward HIV AIDS commitees, on home based care in Kilindi and Handeni district, four committees, two from each district were trained continuing with home based care servises in Monduli district where about 30 people with HIV AIDS were visited and educated on different matters regarding HIV AIDS and nutrition.

UNITED KINGDOM:

Report: Another GFM this week, in Bristol this time and led by two Associates, Jude and Wilf. Staff more involved in marketing of our services, including fundraising opportunities, planning for next year, building up the schedule of ToP courses for 2007.

Jonathan now set to attend the ICA African Regional meeting next month.

UNITED STATES:

Report: Continue to work with Lambert and John Patterson on best way to enable ICA partnership with Misereor.

Prepare to join ICA Canada fund raiser at October 15 Toronto HIV AIDS Marathon. Dick will walk 5 kilometers and two daughters will do whole marathon.

Close to 2,000 dollar commitment. Board and staff meeting planned on Monday, October 16th. in three locations to look at new organization intiatives.

ICAI SECRETARIAT:

Montreal

Greetings from beautiful Montreal, where I have just finished setting up the first ICAI desktop computer at our temporary apartment.

It has been another busy week of work for the Secretariat. Lambert concluded the workshop in Pune and is preparing for meetings with MI and other agencies here in Montreal the week on Oct 23.

I have focused primarily on finalizing the business plan.
