Report: Preparing to send the next facilitiating training team to Timor Leste Continuing work on the ToP 6 module program

CANADA:

Report: Four young people leave for Kenya to work with ICA Kenya and the Government in promoting voluntary testing in Masai communities. Elise Packard provided 4 days of training in ICA methods the week before. Onsite coordinator hired for the YFL program in Georgina.

Report: We completed the training of 4 volunteers and sent them off to work with ICAs in Africa for 5 months.We launched a fund raising effort with the United Church of Canada, Lindsay Presbytery in support of an Orphans Care centre in the Congo.We spoke at some length with Treasurer Ken Hamje, with Sarah Miller, with Elise Packard, with Jan Sanders and with the funding team in ICA Canada.

Report: Bill Staples taught Facilitating Conciliation in Minneapolis. Jo Nelson taught Participation Paradigm course based on the Courage to Lead book. Web site work and online survey development continued with the others of us.

MENA Middle East and North Africa (Egypt):

Report: Returned from Turkey where i attended the istanbul Eisaenhower Fellowships conference.

Prepared for the implementation of our Newest and biggest program, Children at Risk. financed by the EC and in collaboration with two partner NGOs.Chaired the weekly finance meeting.

Facilitated Donor relations and contacts for on going programs and pipeline projects.

Worked with Our resident expert volunteer to facilitate her contribution to the organizational development of ICAMENA.

Prepared presentation to be delivered to 100 Highschool students on social responsibility and citinzenship.

Fasting Moslem Month of Ramadan to begin next Sunday.

PERU:

Report: The Peru ICA team worked together this week after years of working independently for self support.  They made huge strides in designing the curriculum for the 6 week AVANZA PERU staff formation program for the ten year100 Valleys project.  Gloria Santos and Jesusa Aburto are the co deans of the program and everyone on the staff is contributing to the work.  AVANZA PERU will have a test run beginning 5 Nov. for the mining company communities, so marketing begins next week.

UNITED KINGDOM:

Report: Our big news was receiving a grant for UKP40,000 over the next two years to run a series of events with young people in London and Manchester to encourage them to volunteer in their communities. Now we need to recruit someone to coordinate the programme...
