Global Buzz Report: 2014 07 01

AUSTRALIA:

Members of ICA Australia have been engaged in supporting the Recognise Campaign, where Forums have been held to raise awareness of the need to recognise our First Peoples in the Australia constitution. A DVD of this work is in the making.

Members initiated and supported an Africa comes to the Manning Valley program - part of a cross cultural and Indigenous ongoing program, to assist in the integration of migrant families into country NSW. One highlight of the most recent week long event, was the invitation by Indigenous Biripai Elder to one of our African elders to walk and talk together on Biripai land.

Members hosted colleagues from the DR Congo and Nepal during the Rotary International conference, held in Sydney recently. An ICAA partnership planning day during this time, stimulated the thinking around further collaboration in the Asia Pacific Region, and the proposed 2016 ICA conference.

NEPAL:

A two day training workshop on 'proposal writing and fund raising' was conducted on the 19th and 20th of June, 2014. The objective of the training was to develop the skills required for developing project proposals and for raising funds to implement the projects effectively. The training was inaugurated by the Minister, Neelam K.C, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare. Participants from 21 different organizations participated in the training. Most of the organizations do not have adequate knowledge, capacity or skill for fund raising, and do not have regular funding sources. The organizations are working for the empowerment of differently abled: women, children, orphanage, senior citizens, autism etc.

The training was conducted in joint collaboration with the BB Trust and the Rotary Club of Rudramati. Former Minister, Yadu Prasad Bhatta; Sishir Bhatta, Advisor, for the BB Trust; Ms. Jaya Shah, Upcoming Rotary District 3292 Governor, and Juju Raj Tuladhar, President, Rotary Club of Rudrmati, were present to support the program. ICA Nepal played the role of the facilitating organization, and Dr. Tatwa P. Timsina, facilitated the sessions.

Similarly, in continuing the past working association with the Nepal Cloth Merchant & Tailoring Association; on the 23rd and 24th of June, 2014, Social Artistry Leadership training was organized in Baglung District. The total number of participants was 60. Amba Dutta Bhatta and Atma Ram Timsina, facilitated the training.
