Another great week at the Chincha Alta Earthquake Project with 310 homes built
under the leadership of the resident coordinators. It looks like the Project
will be completed weeks ahead of schedule, and also that we will be able to
build hundreds more homes than planned because of the economy of our purchases
and building methods. This week there was a meeting with the contractor who is
charged with the reonstuction of the earthquake zone, and he was extemely
interested that our actual construction costs were just 42 percent of the costs
of the same houses done by the Red Cross. It seems that there is a bigger role
for the ICA in this event.
