In the midst of four major proposals progressing nicely, and a great meeting
with the huge vegetable wholesalers organization of Lima, we were rocked with an
8.0 level earthquake at 6:40 pm on Wednesday just south of Lima. Our staff
families were unharmed as were our facilities, but the impact was severe in
communities to the south of Lima where ICA-Peru has worked for decades. We are
currently coordinating with ICA-Japan to secure a Japonese Emergency Foundatoin
grant for emergency relief to assist the 100,000 or more made homeless by the
destruction. We will report further as things develop.

China.
Luckily Taipei was not in the direct path of the typhoon, but 70,000
people had no electricity for a period of time, though many have been restored
by Monday.
