COTE D'IVOIRE:

ICA Cote d’Ivoire’s activities during March:

Primary Health
This is based on the education of pregnant women, mothers and domestic hygiene. We have, along with the health center and three hospitals of the Brobo region, consulted 57 pregnant women on the importance of prenatal and postnatal consultations (the chances of a woman who makes her [pre and post natal] visits to be able to give birth in the best conditions and know how to feed her baby well). For mothers our advice focuses on the newborn’s balanced nourishment, especially in protein, vegetable protein, vitamins and lipids. We have received 64 women and 70 children.

HIV/AIDS Activities
For this month of March our actions of raising awareness that are supported by Care International are based on volunteer testing of pregnant women in rural zones and their possibility of taking charge to allow the child to breastfeed and the mother to feed without risk.

We had 178 people for the three meetings held at the health center and in two hospitals of the Brobo region. It should be noted that like most of the NGs that work in raising awareness, we have placed an emphasis on the price that is unfortunately at 1000 fcfa all throughout the national territory. A group education session in the village of Saminikro closed our activities this month, almost all the villagers were gathered.

This is a two week report since Dick and Gail were in the USA and Larry has been traveling with his client work.

Evelyn, and Larry held a meeting on Saturday March 31st. to prepare for Bill Staples courses in June and six other people came to help with the translation of English into Chinese and who are interested in facilitating or translating during the course. We plan to hold another check signals meeting on May 5th at 10 am.

Larry goes back to Japan for client work and visits with ICA Japan and returns on Saturday, April 7.

Gail and Dick return after last weekends March 30 - April 1st. EO Colorado meeting.

Evelyn goes down to Taichung for exploratory visit for possible facilitation at Dong Hai University with Shu Yu Chen and observes the design classes rendition of the egg container test, throwing eggs in containers designed by students to see if the egg survives a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floor height, messy but fun. Evelyn also eats natural organic food from a newly formed cooperative farm and receives a wood massage and color accupuncture session and stays in a room full of crystals overnight for a wonderful healing session.

We at ICA-USA would like to thank Bonnie Lucas and Peter Ellins for their expert work in getting the new website designed and operational.

Also this week, ICA-USA completed and submitted a state grant in support of its Learning Basket program. If awarded, this grant will significantly scale up the Learning Basket activities in the USA. Additionally,  the grant would allow ICA-USA to expand its partnerships in promoting Learning Basket activities.
